WALNUT CREEK — The 3rd annual Journey to Bethlehem will be held today and Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. The journey is offered by the businesses of Walnut Creek and provides a live production of the Christmas story and a literal journey through the area.
Seven Christmas vignettes will unfold throughout the Walnut Creek area. Each stop along the journey offers a short skit portraying an aspect of the Christmas story. Along the way, visitors encounter costumed actors, choirs of “angels,” gentle farm animals, the glow of luminaries and joyful carolers. Biblical characters tell the story, and shepherds with their flocks offer fireside warmth while visitors mingle with the crowds at the Bethlehem marketplace.
The journey also includes complimentary refreshments including cinnamon rolls, cookies, hot chocolate and kettle corn. No registration is necessary and maps are provided at the first stop.
The tour begins at the Walnut Hills Retirement Community with the scene “Register to be Taxed.” But fear not, the event is entirely free.
The journey also includes stops at Walnut Hills, Coblentz Chocolates, P. Graham Dunn, Carlisle Inn of Walnut Creek and Rebecca’s Bistro.
Stop 7, the last stop on the journey, is The Farm at Walnut Creek where visitors will find a live nativity scene. Luminaries will line the route down Walnut Creek hill and carolers will be singing throughout the route.
Walnut Creek is on Ohio 39 between Sugarcreek and Berlin. The Walnut Hills Retirement Community, where the journey begins and where visitors will be given a map to the other sites, is at 4770 Old Pump St., Walnut Creek. Pump Street is located off Ohio 515.
