MOUNT VERNON — The on-line auction of dog license 00001 by the Friends of the Knox County Animal Shelter raised $530 for the group’s efforts to support the shelter.
The license was purchased by Jim and Judy Lee of Gambier, owners of Campus Auto and Tire, who will use the tag for Sadie Sue, a 9-year-old boxer mix, which was found along Laymon Road. The Lees also have four other dogs, three of which came from rescue.
“All our dogs are number one,” says Judy. “We just picked Sadie Sue because she has the attitude of being No. 1. Plus, we wanted to help out the shelter and thought this was a great idea.” Now, it’s easy for the Lees to prove Sadie is the number one dog in Knox County.
