CENTERBURG — The Centerburg school board on Monday formally commended the Centerburg Varsity Volleyball team for its successful season. The board praised team members for their dedication and discipline which led them to the 2012 Mid-Buckeye Conference Championship. Honorees included Carri Garber, Jessica Lines, Kayley Jayjohn, Bailee Burke, Kendall Compton, Tristen Simpson, Madi Gregory, Mikaela Weldy, Stacy Fielding, Cortney Canter, Lindsey Daniels and coaches Ed Marsman and Megan Stewart
With regard to personnel, the board approved a family medical leave of absence for Jean Hart, retroactively effective Oct. 1. It accepted the resignation of Paul Pack from middle school wrestling, approved Cody Nininger and Jamie Donaldson as student workers at minimum wage in the athletic department as scorekeepers and accepted Daniel Hebenthal as a volunteer student scorekeeper.
The board also approved 2012-13 Race to the Top committee members Mike Schmidt, Richard Cooper, Todd Kish and Megan Stewart. The board subsequently approved stipends of $2,000 for Schmidt, coordinator, and $1,000 to be paid to the members, with the stipends to be paid from Race to the Top funds.
