FREDERICKTOWN — The Fredericktown Board of Education on Tuesday issued formal commendations to fall sports athletes and coaches.

Individual commendations went to football players Logan Smith, Curtis Carpenter, Joey Dunn, Maeson Helton, Austin Hathaway and Tyler Ruhl. Lydia Webster, Emily Williams and Cassie Simpson were honored for their efforts on the volleyball court, and both the girls and boys cross country teams received recognition. Coach Bob Geiger was commended for being named Mid-Buckeye Conference Boys and Girls Coach of the Year and Sarah Fowler received individual honors for her successful cross country season. Other runners receiving recognition included Emily Roberts, Rachel Caputo, Bridget Roddy, Bailey Gannon, Colin Roddy, Seth Bennett, Caleb Carter and Austin Divelbiss.

The board also honored senior Taran Carpenter, who was instrumental in Fredericktown’s successful Food for the Hungry drive. The vocal talents of Courtney Fisk, Ramey Turner, McKenzie Bebout, Aiden Brown Anna Yoder and Deva Staton, under the direction of Ann Vance, were also presented.

Treasurer Pat Miller told the News on Wednesday the rest of the meeting was largely routine.
