  • A tree planting is underway in Mount Vernon with the first in Riverside Park on Wednesday morning. A grant from the Ariel Foundation has made possible 199 trees around Mount Vernon this fall. This sugar maple was the first of 13 to be planted around Riverside Park. From left is Jan Reynolds, director of Ariel Foundation; Karen Buchwald Wright, president of Ariel Corp.; Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Mavis; Larry Fogle, secretary of the Shade Tree Commission; Councilwoman Susan Kahrl and Susan Hayes, Shade Tree Commission member. The Wade and Gatton Nursery in Bellville has the contract to supply and plant the trees. style=
