Fifteen firefighters and their wives and kids shopped for the toys at the Dollar General store in Fredericktown and Walmart and Big Lots in Mount Vernon.

Shopping for toys is an annual event for the department that also donated $500 to Food for the Hungry. The money was raised by a sale of poinsettias and collection boots. The toys will go to The Salvation Army and Interchurch for distribution to families for Christmas.
