MOUNT VERNON — On Wednesday the Knox Educational Service Center board had a fairly routine meeting Treasurer Heather Darnold told the News on Thursday.
It approved routine financial actions, and amended the fiscal agreements with Danville and Fredericktown schools for the 2012-13 school year. Both contracts were reduced, Darnold said, because fewer students are being served for occupational therapy. The board entered into a lease agreement with the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities for preschool space in the Early Childhood building and approved a lease contract with Comdoc for a copier for the Knox Learning Center at a cost of $239 a month.
Regarding personnel, the board hired Cameron Moore as the Learning Center Boot Camp instructor for the 2012-13 school year. Darnold said Boot Camp is an “intense exercise program.” Several individuals were added to the substitute teacher and teacher aide lists, and Emily Beale was approved as a bus driver for Danville schools. The board also approved itinerant preschool instructor services for Clear Fork schools and appointed resident educators in each school district to be a mentor to new teachers with a yearly stipend of $750.
