MOUNT VERNON — The 2012 Food for the Hungry campaign reached beyond its goal this year, thanks to the generosity of groups, individuals and businesses in Knox County.
The grand total released this morning shows $191,780.64 was raised along with 64 1/2 truckloads of food.
The goal was $160,000 and 50 truckloads of food.
Money and food collected in the Fredericktown, Centerburg and the Danville area will stay in those communities. The remaining donations are split between The Salvation Army and Interchurch Social Services.
