MOUNT VERNON — David Dumbaugh of Dumbaugh Insurance Agency was recognized for 50 years of service with Westfield Insurance Group on Wednesday.
He first began selling life policies for Colonial Heritage Life Insurance Co. in 1964. Over the years, Dumbaugh has won several awards, including the Top Producer Award in 1964 with Colonial Heritage Life Insurance. In the early 1990s, he was invited multiple years to attend the “Pro Pro Mulligans” event with Westfield Insurance Co., earned from being a top producer.
He began his insurance career with Lumbermans Mutual Insurance Co. in Mansfield in 1960. Soon after, he joined his father at Dumbaugh Insurance (founded in Fredericktown in 1939) in 1961. In 1966, a branch office in Mount Vernon was opened, located in Guy Lipps Photography Studio building. The next year, he purchased the agency from his father. The Mount Vernon office moved to West Vine Street and then to its current location at 122 S. Main St. in 1993.
Dumbaugh Insurance Agency has acquired several insurance agencies over the years, including the Richard Workman Agency in Fredericktown in 1961 and the Hollinger/Cutillo Agency in Mount Vernon in 1986.
In 2011, Dumbaugh Insurance joined Keystone Insurers Group, a partnership of independent insurance agencies operating in eight states.

David married Patricia Walker on June 4, 1966. They have two sons, John and Joseph, who are actively involved in the insurance agency. David’s nephew, Mark, is also a part of the agency.
Dumbaugh is also very active in both Kiwanis Club in Mount Vernon and the Lions Club in Fredericktown. In January 1998, he was presented with the Legion of Honor Award for 30 years as a member in Kiwanis. Currently, he has 44 years total as an active member of the Kiwanis Club, was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellow Award along with an award for 50 years in the Fredericktown Lions Club.
Dumbaugh Insurance Agency is also represented with an office in Delaware.
