MOUNT VERNON — The new year came in quietly in Knox County, according to area law enforcement. Throughout the county, the sheriff’s office, city and villages reported routine activity for New Year’s Eve.
Capt. George Hartz, Mount Vernon Police Department, said it was quiet in the city with “run of the mill” activity.
“My experience is when New Year’s Eve falls on a weekday, it’s typically more quiet than if it falls on the weekend,” Hartz told the News.
Knox County Sheriff David Shaffer reported “pretty average” activity.
