MOUNT VERNON — According to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher, sixteen indictment were returned yesterday by the Knox County Grand Jury. Arraignment hearings in the cases are scheduled for January 18 before Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster.

Stacy L. Jones a.k.a. Stacy L. Ferenbaugh, 20, Danville, was indicted on charges of theft of checks, possessing stolen checks and forgery. Thatcher said Jones a.k.a. Ferenbaugh allegedly stole blank checks from a motor vehicle, on October 15, 2012, and then she allegedly passed forged checks totally $2,250.00 at a bank in Mount Vernon and a convenience store in Danville. Deputy Max Huffman, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case.

Ryan J. Harman, 21, Mount Vernon, was indicted on a grand theft charge for allegedly stealing a .38 caliber revolver from a motor vehicle parked in Centerburg, on October 28.

Jeremy N. Pursel, 25, Mount Vernon, allegedly sold heroin to a confidential informant working for the Sheriff’s Office, on October 24. Pursel is charged with trafficking in heroin.

On October 26, a Mount Vernon Municipal Court Probation Officer checked the Howard residence of Christian S. Haenisch, 35, for suspected probation violations. The probation officer and Detective Doug Turpen, KCSO, allegedly found approximately 56 marijuana plants, grow lights and other equipment commonly associated with indoor marijuana cultivation in the basement of the residence. Haenisch is accused of illegal cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana. Detective Turpen investigated the Harman, Pursel and Haenisch cases.

On November 11, Mount Vernon Police officers Matt Jones, Rex Young and Corporal Scott McKnight responded to a disturbance call at Koury Lee Dean’s West Chestnut Street residence. Dean, 27, became agitated and allegedly fought with the officers. Thatcher said Patrolman Jones’s back was injured during the altercation. Dean is charged with assault on a peace officer. Patrolman Young investigated the case.

In the early morning hours of December 15, Timothy M. Maline, 28, Toledo, was pulled over by Trooper Paul Shore, Ohio State Highway Patrol, for a suspected traffic law violation. Shore arrested Maline for driving under the influence of alcohol after Maline allegedly failed field sobriety tests. Maline was indicted on a charge of improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle for allegedly having a loaded 9 mm handgun in his vehicle at the time of the OVI arrest. Thatcher said Maline’s OVI charge was filed in the Municipal Court.

Shelley A. Rose, 44, Centerburg, faces a charge of theft from the elderly for allegedly stealing $80,000.00 from two victims between January 2010 and August 2012. The alleged victims are Rose’s 67 year old former employer and his 88 year old mother. Thatcher said since the two victims are over the age of sixty-five the seriousness of the offense increases from a fourth degree to a third degree felony carrying a possible prison sentence of up to 36 months.

Stephen J. Zingarelli, 21, Mars, Pennsylvania, is accused of rape and gross sexual imposition. Thatcher said on December 6, Zingarelli allegedly engaged in sexual conduct, by force, with a female victim.

Bryce Kolberg, 19, Loudonville, was allegedly found in possession of a stolen credit card, on September 12. Kolberg was indicted on a charge of receiving stolen property. Detective David Light, KCSO, investigated the Rose, Zingarelli and Kolberg cases.

Dane E. Ferenbaugh, 31, Spruce Street, and Joshua Shannon, 31, Shirley Avenue, Mount Vernon, are both charged with illegal manufacture of drugs and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs. Thatcher said on the night of December 30, Ferenbaugh and Shannon allegedly “cooked” methamphetamine in a residence. Patrolman Young investigated the case.

James N. Birchfield, 34, Walnut Street, Mount Vernon was indicted on charges of illegal manufacture of drugs and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs for allegedly “cooking” methamphetamine in a residence, on December 14.

Jonathan R. Flack, 39, Columbus Road, and Carlena A. Pinson, 41, Harcourt Road, Mount Vernon, are both charged with illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs for allegedly “cooking” methamphetamine in Pinson’s residence, on December 29. Flack is also charged with possession of heroin and aggravated possession of drugs for allegedly being found in possession of heroin and methamphetamine on the same day. Detective Craig Feeney, MVPD, investigated the Birchfield, Flack and Pinson cases.

Thomas J. Carpenter, 21, Mount Vernon, is accused of felonious and aggravated assault for allegedly causing serious physical harm to a male victim during an altercation, on December 15. Patrol Officer Jessica Butler, MVPD, investigated the case.

Jason D. Wilson, 31, Mount Vernon, allegedly broke into a church to steal church property, on December 2. Wilson is accused of breaking and entering. Detective James Dechant, MVPD, investigated the case.\
