HOWARD — During the East Knox school board meeting on Wednesday, special education director Corby Frere announced that the purchase of special equipment for a visually impaired kindergarten student was made possible by the generous support of area clubs. She publicly thanked Sertoma of Bladensburg, Howard Lions Club, District 13K Lions, Beta Sigma Phi and the Apple Valley Garden Club for supporting the East Knox school community “in our time of need.”
She said, “The equipment purchased by these generous donations will help our young kindergarten student have better access to reading materials and cut down on eye fatigue throughout the school day.”
The camera and computer system help magnify books and documents much like an overhead projector, enabling the student to read smaller type.
