Apparently the root system was weak on this 70-foot tall maple tree on the front lawn of the home of the Bill and Kim Bradley on East High Street. It fell early Friday afternoon without hitting a car or pulling down utility lines. The tree roots were grown under the sidewalk and two sections of the cement were pulled up where the roots had grown underneath. A Mount Vernon City street department crew cut up the tree.
