MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon school board on Monday took action to save money by making reductions in its work force.
“It was a difficult and painful process,” said board president Margie Bennett.
The Chinese language class will be eliminated effective today, and instructor Edmund Hayes will therefore be taken off the payroll. Also as of today, the daily schedule of agri-science teacher Brian Breece will be reduced from eight to five periods a day and that of industrial technology instructor Michael Pozderac will be reduced from eight to six periods a day. Both their salaries will be adjusted downward accordingly.
