This SUV eastbound ran off Fairgrounds Road about 7:45 this morning just east of Mansfield Road. The broken power pole was hanging from a live electric line. A passenger in the vehicle was taken to Knox Community Hospital and flown by AirEvac helicopter to a Columbus Hospital. Fairgrounds Road was closed by sheriff’s deputies. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and no other information was available as of press time. (Photo by Virgil Shipley)
These pine trees are too close to a 6,900-volt power line that runs north and south across eastern Mount Vernon. So they have to come out. Richard Burch, owner of Burch Tree Care is in the bucket carefully lowering the trees to the ground. In the foreground are logs from the Ed and Dixie Brown home at 619 Coshocton Ave. The tree were taken out because they could be damaged by the wind after the pine trees are removed.
