Fifty applicants have already applied for the license in January. That number nearly hits the mark of 52 applicants in December.

A steady increase has been seen since September with 30 applications, 38 in October and 44 in November.

Although Lt. Tom Durbin has made efforts to streamline the process, Shaffer said it takes 30 to 45 minutes for each application. Because of this, Shaffer expects the process to take a little longer than expected.

“Due to the large volume of application, persons may encounter a slight delay in receiving their permit.”

Applications for concealed carry permits are available at the sheriff’s office or online at www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/.
