MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Commissioners met with County Prosecutor John Thatcher, Monday afternoon, to find out exactly what options they have in regards to enacting an additional sales tax to pay for road and bridge repair and maintenance.
The idea of an additional tax for roads was proposed to the commissioners recently by County Engineer Jim Henry, who asked the commissioners to place a 0.5 percent sales tax increase on the ballot.
Thatcher had done some initial research on the issue, looking into when and how Delaware County imposed the tax it uses to pay for roads.
