MOUNT VERNON — Steve Waers was elected to lead the Heritage Centre Association for 2013 at the annual membership meeting Thursday at The Alcove.
Waers was elected president and will be helped by new fellow officers: Steve McCurdy, vice president; Dee Allerding, treasurer; and Tom Stamp, secretary.
Several spots on the board of directors were also selected at the meeting. Filling terms until March 2016 will be Becky Glass, Tamra Fuscaldo, Waers and Dennis White.
Outgoing president Corby Wise gave a report detailing a plan of action for 2013. Wise’s plan includes reaching out to more businesses, fundraising and continuing with the successful programs such as First Friday, Christmas Walk and the Rubber Duck River Race.
“I think Mount Vernon is headed in the right direction,” Wise said. “With the parks, the bike trails and the Woodward all happening, things are looking right for us.”
The plan of action also included an overall strategy for the beautification of downtown Mount Vernon, as well as exploring the use of studies/surveys and increasing the marketing budget to reach out to Greater Ohio.
