DANVILLE — Danville Local Schools were notified Tuesday morning that the Danville Police Department’s K-9 Unit and the Coshocton County Sheriff Department’s K-9 Unit would visit the schools that day. The police department had agreed to visit the schools randomly twice during school year.
Danville K-9 Unit handler Sgt. Dan Weckesser and Lasko, a German Shepherd, arrived at the junior high school at 12:15 p.m. Coshocton County Sheriff Department’s handler Deputy Dave Stone and Dingo, a Belgian Malinois, investigated the high school. The units found both schools free of drugs.
Danville Junior High School Principal Tara Bond said she was pleased with the results. “I would expect nothing else,” she said.
“So far the only thing we’ve ever uncovered is prescriptions that the kids are approved to take,” said Chief Monte Vance. “We also, one time, found a sleeping pill on the floor.”
