The students in band, choir and orchestra received ratings from qualified adjudicators on their individual performances. MVHS students in 30 of the 34 events received a superior or excellent rating, the two highest ratings given by judges.

Choir director Marty Bell told the News that she, band director Andrew Sundman and orchestra director Anthony Springer were very pleased with the body of work that their students produced and showcased throughout the day.

“They proudly represented Mount Vernon High School during their performances and as observers for their fellow musicians,” Bell continued. “Many took the opportunity to listen to their peers from other schools as well. All of our high school music students learn a tremendous amount about music, teamwork, and their personal abilities as they prepare for adjudicated events such as this.”
