MOUNT VERNON — Serving all of Knox County with meals, transportation, lawn mowing and homemaker services, as well as social activities, is the premise behind The Station Break, the senior citizens center designed to provide services for county residents age 60 and over.
Formerly located at the old Pennsylvania Railroad depot near Ohio 13 and Columbus Road, a new, larger facility was acquired when the City of Mount Vernon purchased the Dan Emmett Conference Center on Howard Street in the summer of 2012 to be used as The Station Break’s new home.
Providing services for not just Mount Vernon area seniors but for all of Knox County is the mission of The Station Break. The biggest program is Meals on Wheels where homebound seniors age 60 and over can receive a hot meal delivered to their home every weekday. There is a suggested donation for meals.
