UTICA — A combined effort between Utica American Legion Post 92 and the Licking County Chapter of the American Red Cross has been agreed upon to assist the Utica community in the face of disaster.
During the summer of 2012, the Utica area was crippled by a week-long power outage with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees.
“The community and citizens were vulnerable to the conditions during the power outage last summer,” said Mike Flaherty, project manager and member of Post 92. “The Legion assisted elderly and needy members along with their families during that disastrous time, but we wished we could have done more.”
