UTICA — Two ordinances were approved accepting easements to allow the village access to underground utility lines at two local gas stations when Utica Village Council met Monday evening at town hall. Approval of the easement at Circle K was necessary due to new ownership taking over; and the easement at the Englefield Oil property was necessary due to construction of a new facility.
Also approved Monday evening were the water rates and tax rates for 2013 so that fiscal officer Anna Flaherty can complete paperwork.
Utica Mayor Lester Grennell announced that action taken at a special meeting Jan. 28 saw the acceptance of the amended plat and acceptance of the conveyance of two bonds for Honeybrook Greene subdivision. These were necessary to accept the streets as well as well as a community center and a retention pond. The village will now be responsible for maintaining the roads, pond and green space on this property.
Mayor Grennell wished to dispel a rumor about the removal of a one-half percent tax credit for those who work outside the village. Grennell said the rumor is absolutely false and that the one-half percent credit is still in place. “We have no intentions of doing away with the credit,” said Grennell.
