MOUNT VERNON — Knox Area Transit administrator Hilary Patterson reported considerable activity for 2012 when she reported to the Knox County Commissioners on Thursday. In 2012, KAT provided 133,225 rides. The county transit service completed almost 1,700 more rides in 2012 than 2011.
“KAT averages around 11,000 rides a month,” said Patterson, “And the KAT Transportation Advisory Committee is in full swing, and meets quarterly to discuss how to improve KAT and it educates riders on how KAT works. TAC is open to the public and anyone can come to our meetings.”
TAC is comprised of riders, members of the general public, and agencies that provide rides for their clients. They meet quarterly at KAT headquarters to discuss concerns posed by riders and to keep them informed.
