MOUNT VERNON — Mayor Richard Mavis and Mount Vernon City Council will not issue any letters of support for a proposed housing development on Upper Gilchrist Road.
The mayor announced the decision Friday at his weekly news briefing and provided copies of the letter he sent to the bank that owns the property and the developer who wants to build the low-income development.
The letter he sent to each was brief: “After conferring with Council Woman Nancy Vail, I am confidant the limited time to review your project is not sufficient to issue any letters of support from Council or the mayor.”
