UTICA — Construction is underway, and a move is being planned for R.D. Ramseyer D.V.M. Inc. in Utica. The family veterinary operation has been in business since 1969 at 29 N. Central Ave., under the ownership of Richard Ramseyer, D.V.M. His son, Dr. Erich, joined the practice in 2000 and has been focused on small animal practice.
The new facility will be located on Ohio 13, just north of U.S. 62. “It’s so we can better serve our clientele. We’re going to have better facilities for what needs to be done,” said Erich about the decision to open the new, bigger facility. The new facility will include more exam rooms, separate dental, surgery and radiology suites, as well as expanded boarding facilities including a separate cat boarding room and outside exercise area.
The present building was designed for a practice that was mostly large animal and served that purpose well. The practice has evolved into mostly companion animal care, and the new facility was designed to better serve those needs.
The name of the practice will be changing to Utica Animal Care Center to reflect the business ownership of Erich, while Richard will be scaling back and pursuing retirement.
