MOUNT VERNON — The state’s Distinguished Young Women participants ate lunch at The Alcove Restaurant on Tuesday courtesy of the Mount Vernon Rotary Club. While Rotary members met some of the state’s most “distinguished young women,” the 23 program participants practiced their public speaking skills and learned about the Rotary.
“I didn’t realize we’d get to speak to so many people and make so many connections,” said Abbie Fierman of Northern Butler County.
The high school seniors sat scattered among the Rotary members. When asked what was most surprising about their week so far, Alyssa Crow, a Knox County participant, stated, “I didn’t expect to be treated like a princess and we are.”
