MOUNT VERNON — The 2013 May election in Knox County will be a Special Election rather than a Primary Election and that means there will not be any candidates on the May ballot. However, there will be 10 issues pertaining to schools, townships, a fire district and one agency.
“The May election will be inconsequential [locally] this year,” said Knox County Republican Chairman Chip McConville, “because there are no contested seats. There are three at-large seats for council but the candidates are incumbents and there are challengers in two of the wards.”
The Knox County Board of Elections recognized 10 issues for the Special Election.
