MOUNT VERNON — Due to predictions of inclement weather and potentially hazardous road conditions, Thursday’s meeting of the Knox County Career Center school board was held at 4 p.m. rather than 7 p.m. as scheduled.
Presentations at the meeting included a report by board vice president Margie Bennett about the Washington, D.C., National School Boards Association and Federal Relations Network conference. Bennett mentioned some of the highlights of the conference, discussed school board legislative priorities and said attendees challenged Congress to cancel the across-the-board cuts and focus on long-term funding solutions for education in America.
“It was an amazing educational experience with information overload,” Bennett said.
