MOUNT VERNON — The next phase in the improvement of security of Mount Vernon Municipal Court could begin soon.
The city opened proposals for the project Friday. Only one proposal was received, but it was for less than the estimated price so the city will be able to award a contract, City Engineer Cameron Keaton said. First, however, he will have to review to proposal to make sure the proposal meets the project specifications and all the paperwork is in order.
If everything is in order, he will recommend to the Board of Control (Mayor Richard Mavis and Safety/Service Director Dave Glass) to make the contract award. The Board of Control meets Thursday.
Submitting a proposal of $27,775 was Modern Builders. The engineer’s estimate on the project was $28,299.
Once the Board of Control awards a contract, the contractor will have 90 days to complete the project, which will consist of expanding the lobby area and creating a payment window to the clerk’s office for the payment of fines.
