AMITY — The Ohio State Fire Marshall has been called in to investigate a fire that destroyed a mobile home Thursday night. The fire was on Shady Lane, off Carson Road, in Pike Township.
Fredericktown Fire Chief Scott Mast said the extended home was boarded up. This morning he had not determined who owns the property. It is secluded a half mile back Shady Lane, which is a dead end road.
The department got the call Thursday at 9:15 p.m. Mast said all but two firefighters in his department, 26 men and women, answered the call. They took three fire trucks to the scene and were able to drive one truck close to the mobile home and pump water onto the fire.
Mutual aid came from the College Township. Mast said they pumped water from over a bridge on Little Schenck Creek on Carson Road a little over a mile from the scene. They pumped 7,000 gallons of water on the fire. The department secured the scene at 1 a.m.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
