MOUNT VERNON — A public meeting is set for 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall to discuss the proposed housing development on Upper Gilchrist Road.
“This is not a public hearing,” said Safety/Service Director Dave Glass, filling in for Mayor Richard Mavis at the weekly press briefing. He said the administration and council want to explain the status of the project and give the public a chance to ask questions and offer opinions.
Glass said there are a lot of rumors floating around about the project and the city wants to squelch those rumors.
“So far, the project is just an application to the Ohio Housing Finance Agency to get tax credits.”
Woda Group, a developer from Westerville, wants to erect an 84-unit project on the 59-acre site next to Colonial Woods. The site was originally intended to be part of the Colonial Woods development which stopped building in the financial collapse of 2008.
