MOUNT VERNON — The Woda Group, a housing developer based in Westerville, is moving ahead with plans for an 84-unit development on Upper Gilchrist Road.
The group originally approached Mount Vernon City Council at its Feb. 11 meeting, asking the city to endorse the project, but the mayor and council took no stand on the issue, as they didn’t have time to review the project before a Feb. 21 filing deadline the company was facing.
Since then, the company has sent another notice to the city, this one saying the city has 30 days to file objections to the proposed development with the Ohio Housing Finance Agency.
Mavis said the city does not know enough about the project yet to comment, but will want to see the development plans, including whether streets, sidewalks and sewers will be completed.
The proposed development is all in the city, Mavis noted, and the developers will have to come to the planning commission and explain the project.
