FREDERICKTOWN — Several veteran educators submitted retirement requests to the Fredericktown Board of Education on Tuesday, and the board granted those requests. Retirees include business/computer instructor Tim Birie, 18 years of service to Fredericktown; intervention specialist Bill Bradley, 26 years; gifted coordinator Kathleen Carpenter, seven years with Fredericktown; industrial technology/pre-engineering teacher Don DeMarco, 25 years; physical education instructor Sue Melick, 35 years; and high school/middle school principal Robert Moore, 29 years.
“Some great teachers are leaving here,” said board member Betty Weller. “We’ll really miss them.”
Board member Jim Wagner commended Birie for the superb job he did in preparing seniors for the recently held mock interviews. Wagner said he participated in several interviews and added, “The students did a fantastic job. I was impressed with them.”
