MOUNT VERNON — Bids were open Thursday for the demolition of the first 11 properties in the Moving Ohio Forward Demolition Program.
Four bids were received ranging from $66,549 to $111,000. The estimated cost was $67,500. Deercreek Excavating of Bellville submitted the lowest bid.
According to Thom Collier, county commissioner, the bid will be reviewed and if all parameters of the specifications are met, Deercreek will be awarded the project.
Included in this round of properties is 301 N. Norton St., Mount Vernon. This property has been vacant for over 10 years and has been the scene of two fires over the last year.
Additional funds remain available. Residents wanting to apply for possible demolition of residential property may do so by acquiring an application at the commissioners’ office, 117 E. High St., or by calling a township trustee.
