MOUNT VERNON — Tom Coleman caught heat for vacating his Georgia dog kennel, and even more when he arrived in Ohio. He has owned as many as 1,000 dogs and currently houses 400 at Knox County’s largest breeding operation, Lone Oak Kennel, near Danville. Coleman is an outspoken third-generation breeder who defends his practices as boldly as animal rights activists question them.
