HOWARD — On Feb. 27. 2013, the East Knox FFA chapter conducted its annual member awards banquet in the High School Auditorium following a catered meal in the cafeteria. Approximately 240 members, parents and guests were in attendance.

Scholarship awards were given to members with at 3.5 or higher overall grade point average. They were Tori Anders, Cheyenne Camps, Dylan Woods, Ashley Moore, Katie Robbins, Breanna Baldwin, Cierra Marshall, Katie Gibson, Cameron Taylor, Ashley Poff, Bryce Johnson, Rory Humphrey, Julia Morris, David Wise and Lindsey Rine.

Dylan Baker, Austin Hinson, Austin Warner, Jake Jesse, Winnie Hinson, Dan Roten and Luke Wells were recognized for achieving the State FFA Degree pending final approval at state FFA board of trustees. Cody Totten, Adam Rine and Aaron McCarty were recognized for the American FFA Degree pending final approval from the National FFA.

Leadership pins were awarded to Austin Hinson, Dylan Baker, Brandon Beach, Jake Jessee, Winnie Hinson, Cierra Marshall, Dan Roten, Luke Wells, Briar Blechinger, Anesha Tharp, Tori Anders, Levi Clark, Katie Gibson, Lindsey Rine and Rowan Rine.

Officer pins were presented to the newly elected 2013-14 team who are: Winnie Hinson, president; Dan Roten, vice-president; Cierra Marshall, secretary; Tori Anders, treasurer; Breanna Baldwin, reporter; Lindsey Rine, sentinel; and Luke Wells, student advisor. Plaques were presented to the 2012-13 retiring officers including Sentinel Austin Warner and Student advisor Dylan Baker.

Thirty-one different FFA members were presented career development event awards for competing in one or more of the chapters 26 different state-level contests.

Star awards were earned by Lindsey Rine, Katie Gibson and Rowan Rine — Star Greenhands; Tori Anders, Star Chapter Degree; Winnie Hinson, Dan Roten and Luke Wells, Outstanding Juniors; Dylan Baker and Austin Hinson, Outstanding Seniors. Cierra Marshall, Tori Anders and Winnie Hinson were presented outstanding service awards for their state gold-rated officer books. Dalton Rager was presented the Outstanding Achievement Award as the chapters top fruit salesman.

The Honorary Chapter Degree was presented to Charlie Hunt, East Knox bus mechanic. The chapters’ seventh VIP Award was presented to Kevin Gallwitz, computer instructor, for his continued support of the East Knox FFA chapter.

State FFA Sentinel, Adam Rine was the featured speaker.

The East Knox FFA is appreciative of all those who have contributed to its success throughout the year.
