MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Commissioners have rejected County Engineer Jim Henry’s proposal to place a 1/2 percent sales tax increase on the November ballot to pay for road improvements and repairs.
Henry met with the commissioners in January to propose seeking the hike to provide much-needed money for county roads. After getting answers to legal questions from County Prosecutor John Thatcher and allowing the public time to comment, the commissioners finally issued their decision this week.
