UTICA — Student and staff achievements were highlighted during Monday’s meeting of the North Fork Local school board.
The musical accomplishments of many students was commended as the board lauded vocal and instrumental musicians for excellent and superior ratings at the Ohio Music Association’s high school solo and ensemble contest. The board formally commended both the Utica High School girls and boys basketball teams and their coaches for an exemplary season, as well as wrestlers Nick Carpenter and Dillon Fletcher for being district qualifiers and named First Team MBC. The board also recognized Utica Elementary teacher Julie Hill for being named a Coughlin Automotive “You Make a Difference “ award winner. Hill was nominated for the honor by eighth-grade student Kirsten Cheadle.
The rest of the meeting, assistant treasurer Tonya Mickley told the News on Wednesday, was “pretty much cut and dried.”
