MOUNT VERNON — A resolution condemning the property at 17821 Shady Lane in Pike Township topped the agenda when the Knox County Board of Health met Wednesday evening at the Knox County Health Department.
The board of health declared the property a public nuisance on Oct. 24, 2012, after the vacant mobile home was placed under foreclosure. It had broken windows, was vandalized and had solid waste scattered around the property. The mobile home which attaches to an additional structure was then destroyed by fire on March 7 with a report from the State Fire Marshal still pending.
“We condemn the property,” said health commissioner Julie Miller. “This helps the township officials clean it up and get it out of there.” The property is bank owned and the structure is expected to be torn down.
