BLADENSBURG — Ever wonder who put the live ducks in the Bladensburg barbershop 70 years ago? Know what happened to the first guy who wanted to open a saloon in Bladensburg? Interested in finding out about frontier justice, Bladensburg style?

All that and more can be found in “Bladensburg, Ohio 1833-2012, ” a history book published by the Bladensburg History Group. A true labor of love, the publication was 3 1/2 years in the making and explores the history of the Bladensburg area and its founding families.

Jan Atkinson, Donivan “Don” Rine and Larry Stimpert are among the individuals who collected and compiled information, photographs and anecdotes for the book. They talked with the News about the book’s genesis.
