MOUNT VERNON — Althea Dye and Chris Fletcher of Howard were the 2013 recipients of the Luke B. Biggs Award from the Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon. Kiwanis deputy of agriculture Doug McLarnan introduced the couple as well as guest speaker Fred Dailey.

“Our award winners are Althea Dye and Chris Fletcher. They are in production agriculture and they raise cattle and crops,” said McLarnan. “I do see Althea all the time at a fishing tournament or something that involves youth or the Pheasants Forever.”

The couple served many years as 4-H advisors and are involved with Pheasants Forever, the fish and game association, and the East Knox Lions Club. They also participate in conservation programs like the Knox Soil & Water District.
