MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Board of Education on Wednesday met in special session to discuss the superintendent search process and review the files of 28 candidates who applied for the position.

Search consultant Kathy LaSota said the call for applications resulted in a great match to what the board and community had felt important. Her team prescreened the candidates before bringing the results to the board. She said the majority of the applicants are from Ohio, although Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Indiana were also represented.
