MOUNT VERNON — Contracts have been awarded for the construction of Mount Vernon’s new service building, Mayor Richard Mavis announced at his weekly press briefing Friday. And because the bids came in significantly below the project’s estimated cost, several extra features were added to the project.
Williamson Builders Inc. of Plain City was awarded the general contract at $2,251,330, General Temperature Control received the mechanical contract at $663,000 and Modern Builders Inc. of Mount Vernon won the electrical contract at $371,000.
Added to the project were radiant floor heating, which added costs to all three contracts, while additional asphalt driveway and liner panels on the interior of the building added to the general contract price.
Total project cost is $3,285,330. The contractors have 240 days from the date of award to complete their work.
