MOUNT VERNON — St. Vincent de Paul students fared well at the district science fair held in Marion on March 16, and Shannon Powers did exceptionally well.

Powers earned a perfect score and a superior rating for her hydropower experiment and will be advancing to the state science fair on May 12. The seventh-grader also earned an engineering trophy sponsored by Steam Turbine Alternative Resources, a scholarship to the 2013 B-WISER Institute and awards from both the American Meteorological Society and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
