MOUNT VERNON — Jedidiah H. Lang, 31, has been indicted for murder in the February death of Brad Grosscup. Amber K. Pilotti, 31, was indicted for complicity to commit murder. The charges were part of the list of indictments returned by a Knox County grand jury Monday.
Grosscup, 52, was found dead following a fire Feb. 14, at his apartment at 209 Shirley Ave., Mount Vernon. County Coroner Dr. Jennifer Ogle determined Grosscup was dead prior to the fire. According to the autopsy, his death was due to asphyxia and blunt force trauma to the head and Ogle ruled the death a homicide.
The indictments come just as Pilotti was to go on trial this morning for aggravated arson in the case.
As a result of Monday’s indictments, Lang is now charged with murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, gross abuse of a corpse and two counts of aggravated arson.
Pilotti is indicted for complicity to commit murder, complicity to commit felonious assault, tampering with evidence, gross abuse of a corpse and two counts of aggravated arson.
Both are being held in the Knox County Jail on the original arson charges. Those charges will be dropped, as the charges are included in the new indictment.
