MOUNT VERNON — Skin tests for exposure to tuberculosis are currently being limited to priority risk groups, due to a recently announced shortage of the product Tubersol.

Manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur Limited, Tubersol is a Tuberculin Purified Protein derivative used for intradermal injection in TB tests. Jackie Fletcher, director of Child and Community Health Services at the Knox County Health Department, told the News that while there remains a shortage of Tubersol, skin tests are recommended to be limited to those in priority groups until the product is replenished.
