GAMBIER — Chilly temperatures greeted runners Sunday morning for the Earth Day Challenge Marathon and Four Miler, but that didn’t deter the athletes. And inside the Kenyon Athletic Center, festival-goers enjoyed a variety of displays and vendors catering to the theme “Healthy World, Healthy People.”
The Knox County Health Department offered useful information. Terri Hillier said the display of sugar with a sign noting that a 12 ounce soda a day is equal to 35 pounds of sugar a year for one consumer drew a lot of attention.
“It’s been a great turn-out with about 80 vendors and some of them new exhibitors. We have the First Presbyterian Youth Art program represented and we have the fifth grade art contest selections on display,” said Health Department promoter Mike Whitaker. “This is our seventh annual event and every year it gets bigger and better.”
