GAMBIER — Maggie Williams jumped at the chance to join one of the most popular groups at Wiggin Street Elementary School.

She’s been jumping now for four years.

“It’s a lot of fun,” said Williams. “It’s more fun than recess.”

Williams, a fifth-grader, is one of dozens of students learning new skills on the Wiggin Street Jump Rope Team.

The program was started by physical education teacher Hillary Hess in 2009, who was looking for something different for her kids.
