MOUNT VERNON — City officials are on track to have a successor to Geoff Oliver selected by the time Oliver retires as Buildings and Grounds superintendent May 10.
Safety-Service Director Dave Glass said he and Mayor Richard Mavis have completed second interviews with four of the six city employees who have applied for the job.
“We’ll do the other two interviews the first of the week when the mayor is back, then we’ll sort things out,” Glass said.
“Geoff has done a good job for 30 years and will be hard to replace,” Glass said, adding that the city is just at the beginning of the Foundation Park project and will need a person with vision to move forward.
Glass described all six who have applied for the post as good employees.
